1st XI Vs Whimple Home
Rash, impulsive and impatient. Possibly some words to describe how we go about currently constructing or chasing a score. Until we change how we go about setting or chasing totals, we will continue to come up short in close games. Another 40 runs on Saturday would have made the game that much more interesting.
Well done to those who did score runs, Taf, Jack and an ever improving Euan. I am proud of the way we never gave up in the fight to bowl out Whimple and we did well to get them 6 wkts down. They are a well rounded, disciplined side and we should learn from how they go about their game.
Sampford is a game that gives a chance to put things right.
On a separate note, we are now into the 2nd game of June and there are a number of you yet to pay your subs for the season. Please can you sort this out asap. In order for the club to move forward, subs need to be paid on time.
1st XI Vs Cheriton Fitzpaine Saturday 23rd May 2015
18pts would ordinarily be welcomed as a good result, but alas, one of the most unenjoyable games I have been involved in.
Keeping up a level of performance to be proud of, is difficult when playing against a side that are unable to to provide a modicum of opposition. So what can we take from this game??
It’s easy to let your own game slip and be blinded by a desire to fill ones boots with easy wickets and cheap runs.
The reality is that against weak sides it can be very hard to raise ones motivation to compete.
As a result, each individual has to find a challenge within their own game to keep yourself motivated and focussed.
Next up is Kilmington away and Whimple at home, 2 games that will determine the success of our season.
Consistency doing the basics well, will decide who comes out on top and ultimately continue to drive the the rest of the season in a positive way.
